Promoting Chattanooga as the best place to work remote in the U.S.

Known as “Gig City,” Chattanooga was the first city in the Western Hemisphere to offer 1 gigabit-per-second fiber internet service to all of its residents and businesses in 2010. Now, the city offers 25 gigabit-per-second service – and during the pandemic, the Chattanooga Area Chamber saw an opportunity to attract remote workers with its combination of affordability, scenic beauty and speedy internet. DCI and the Chamber launched a website, digital ad campaign and public relations blitz to promote Chattanooga as the best place to work remote in the country.

The Challenge

During the pandemic, with the talent opportunity greater than ever, the Chattanooga Area Chamber came together with the Chattanooga Tourism Co. to align remote work messaging and develop a case for talent to relocate and work remotely in the "Gig City." A secondary goal was to provide English and Spanish-language content for locals looking to upskill or reskill.

The Solution

A long-time partner of the Chattanooga Area Chamber, DCI took a three-pronged approach to this strategy: proactive media relations to showcase why Chattanooga is a great place to work remote; developing a website featuring remote work key messages and resources for talent looking to relocate; and creating an overarching remote worker marketing strategy and paid media campaign to ensure the website and media results reach the right people, incentivizing remote workers to relocate.
