We’ve all heard it said before: a picture is worth a thousand words. If that’s the case, a video is worth a million words. With YouTube known as one of the world’s leading search engines, having a presence on the platform is a strategic way to get in front of your target audiences, particularly for talent attraction campaigns.

DCI’s latest Talent Wars report, which analyzes how people make relocation decisions, identified that of those who said they turn to social media to learn about job opportunities, YouTube was the second most utilized social media platform. With a solid digital presence more critical now than ever, we’ve identified three talent attraction video series that inspire us to pack our bags.

Indiana

The State of Indiana spans over 36,000 square miles and is home to over 6.8 million people. From college towns to bustling cityscapes to tranquil suburbs and rural estates, the state needed to show its diversity of people, places, things to do and career opportunities across all talent attraction marketing materials. The state’s “Home Again IN Indiana” video series spotlights residents who boomeranged back to Indiana after moving away from the Hoosier state, including Indiana University’s head Football Coach, Tom Allen. Cleveland

Cleveland is known as the Land for life, creativity and a place to get inspired. Destination Cleveland created the Land For Life storytelling series as part of the Cleveland Talent Alliance, which brings together two Clevelanders to sit and talk about why they love living and working in the region on “The Land Love Seat.”  The catch? These two people have never met before.  The series is a fun way to celebrate the region, how easy it is to get connected and, more importantly, the people and unique places that make Cleveland, Cleveland.  Check out the series here

The Triangle, NC

The 13-county Triangle region is constantly dominating national rankings as a top place to live, work and innovate. Home to cities like Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, the region has over 3,000 open jobs at leading companies like Apple, Pfizer and Google. In 2022, Work in the Triangle launched a video series showcasing the region’s vibrancy. From interviewing residents on the street about why they love living in the Triangle to “day in the life” segments to help prospective residents visualize what life could be like in the Triangle. While we know that most talent won’t take the final leap towards relocation without experiencing the location first-hand, having a solid video library might be the factor that moves your community to the top of someone’s relocation list.
