New York Times: Top States & Metros for Business Creation

Entrepreneurs Mapping on Board

As the lead of a story in this morning’s New York Times notes, “Silicon Valley gets all the glory, but the real hotbed of American entrepreneurship appears to be a few hundred miles to the northeast: Montana.”

The article reports on a new report from the Kauffman Foundation, which produces an annual ranking of the startup activity in every state and expanded the survey this year to include the 40 largest metro areas.

Wyoming and North Dakota join Montana at the top of the job-creating states, while Austin, Miami and San Jose led the metro areas.
