The Next Generation of Travel Media
As technology and media consumption evolve, so do the practices of today’s travel journalists.
In this rapidly shifting landscape, Development Counsellors International (DCI) set out to survey a new generation of journalists—Gen Z—to gain insight into their perspectives and emerging practices. Though still growing and maturing, this generation is poised to lead the media outlets that shape travel narratives in the future.
This study surveyed young journalists, ages 18 to 27, currently working in the field or contributing to student publications, capturing their thoughts on the digital transformation, the state of journalism, and the future of travel media. The insights gained from this report offer destination marketers valuable guidance on what it will look like to collaborate with this next wave of travel storytellers.
