Boston has big news: Porter Airlines begins service to Boston on May 14, making it easier for Canadian travellers to visit during peak season. Up to 14 weekly flights from Toronto Pearson–Boston strengthen cross‑border connectivity ahead of Boston’s busiest months. The new Museum of American Finance (July 1) opens at Commonwealth Pier and explores the history of American finance, entrepreneurship and markets through interactive exhibits and artifacts, adding a new cultural attraction to the rapidly evolving waterfront. 

FIFA World Cup matches come to Greater Boston (June 13–July 9) and are a must for Canadian soccer fans. Fan festivals and watch parties inject international energy into the city. As the US celebrates its 250th birthday, Boston Harborfest (July 2–4) will be an extra special moment to celebrate Independence Day. Sail Boston (July 11–16) will return after a decade, bringing a fleet of tall ships from around the world to continue the July Fourth celebrations. The Fenway Park Summer Concert Series (July–August) hosts a lineup of major concerts throughout the summer, transforming the historic ballpark into one of the city’s biggest live-music venues. Boston Pride for the People Festival and Parade (June 6) is another major summer event with a parade and live performances across the city. 

For food angles, Agosto will open (summer) as Chef George Mendes launches his intimate chef-counter restaurant in Boston’s South End. New PredictHQ forecasts show traveller spending across accommodation, ground transportation and food and beverage in North America’s host cities is projected to exceed $8.1 billion USD between June and August 2026 – an increase of nearly $750 million over the same period last year.

The event at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas features keynotes, breakout sessions, product demos and high-level networking opportunities. Historically, EXPLORE is where Expedia unveils major innovations, new platform features and global travel trends, often announcing dozens of new tools, AI capabilities and strategic initiatives for partners. For 2026, attendees can expect a strong focus on next-generation travel technology, data-driven insights and collaborative strategies, alongside curated networking events and experiential programming designed to drive business growth and partnerships.

Miami Spa Months (July–August) sees luxury spas across Greater Miami and Miami Beach offer specially priced, limited-time treatments that highlight self-care and tropical ingredients. It pairs with Miami Spice Restaurant Months, celebrating its 25th anniversary (August–September). The programme invites everyone to book specially priced, three-course prix-fixe menus at hundreds of restaurants across Miami-Dade County. 

For cultural angles, the Pérez Art Museum’s new exhibit, Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture (through August 23) explores how sports intersect with art, identity, spectacle and social history through contemporary works and immersive installations. The Pérez also hosts Woody De Othello: Coming Forth by Day (through June 28) featuring the local artist’s sculptural works that explore the emotional and psychological dimensions of everyday objects. At the Bass, Michelangelo Pistoletto: Mirror of Eternity (through July 1) examines the legendary Italian artist’s decades-long use of mirrors as a tool for reflection, participation and philosophical inquiry.  

PARAISO Miami Swim Week (May 27–31) is one of Miami Beach’s most globally recognised fashion moments, transforming the city into a hub for swimwear, resort fashion and design. Runway shows, pop-ups and brand activations spill across South Beach, blending fashion with nightlife and culture. International Ballet Festival of Miami (summer) invites international ballet companies and dancers for performances and educational programming. It reinforces the city’s growing reputation as a summer destination for high-caliber performing arts.  

The FIFA World Cup (June–July) comes to Miami, one of the official host cities welcoming international fans and teams to Hard Rock Stadium. Matches and citywide watch parties will enliven the city even more. For a calmer experience, Beach Yoga Experience – South Beach (through August 25) includes outdoor yoga sessions on the sand for a wellness-focused way to experience Miami Beach’s natural setting.

Air Canada increases transborder connectivity from Montréal–Trudeau with two brand‑new nonstop U.S. routes launching at the start of the summer travel season (May 1). Daily service from Montréal to Cleveland and Columbus strengthens access to key Midwestern markets. Porter Airlines adds a new short‑haul international option from Montréal with the launch of nonstop Montréal–Boston service for summer 2026 (May 14). Air Canada also introduces new nonstop transatlantic service to Catania (June 4) and Palma de Mallorca (June 17). 

This year marks 50 Years of the 1976 Summer Olympics with citywide programming including Montréal 1976: An Olympic Feat at the McCord Stewart Museum and initiatives celebrating women’s sports inspired by Nadia Comăneci’s perfect score. 

New openings abound. Bistrot à Franky opens (May), a highly anticipated French bistro from Top Chef Canada winner Francis Blais that brings classic Parisian cuisine and a wine programme to Montréal’s Mile End. Bota Bota, an iconic floating spa, expands with a second boat, including a large sauna dedicated to traditional Aufguss rituals and enhancing the thermal circuit experience on the St. Lawrence River. 

Events light up Montréal this summer. Festival TransAmériques (May 28–June 10) brings experimental dance and cutting-edge performance, featuring daring new works from artists around the world. Festival Eurêka! (June 5–7) introduces over 100 science-themed workshops and demonstrations for the whole family, both in-person and virtually. Francos de Montréal (June 12–20) welcomes over 250 French-language performances on indoor and epic outdoor stages, uniting Francophonie music lovers in celebration of chansons françaises. The St-Ambroise Montréal Fringe Festival (late May to mid-June) is among the continent’s largest theater festivals featuring hundreds of independent performances spanning theatre, comedy, dance and experimental works across Montréal. MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE (July 2–12) transforms the city into an open-air Big Top with acrobatics, circus acts and jaw-dropping spectacle. Cineophiles clamor for the Fantasia International Film Festival (July 16–August 2) covering horror, fantasy and sci-fi films. Vans Warped Tour returns for a two-day North American run (August 21–22), with Montréal as the only Canadian stop, bringing punk, rock and alternative acts to fans across the region. Montréal Pride (August) is the city’s biggest party, combining non-stop festivities with activism, community events and the iconic Drag Superstars all-star show. 

For art lovers, The Torlonia Collection: Masterpieces of Roman Sculpture (through July 19) is a blockbuster exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts showcasing extraordinary Roman sculptures from the renowned Torlonia Collection. The internationally recognised MURAL Festival (June) transforms Boulevard Saint-Laurent into an open-air gallery as artists create massive murals alongside music performances and food.

Rolling Loud Orlando (May 8–10) is the world’s largest hip-hop festival, attracting international fans and Gen-Z/young millennial audiences. The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival (May 12–25) is among the longest-running Fringe festivals in the United States with more than 1,000 theatre, comedy, dance and music performances. The festival’s inclusive, uncensored programming and lawn parties make it a major late-spring cultural draw. 

In amusement park news, Universal Epic Universe (opens May 2) is the first all‑new theme park in Orlando in 25 years. With five immersive lands, the park is a major draw for families and thrill-seekers. “The Mandalorian and Grogu” mission (May 22) on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opens at Disney World. Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! (May 26) is a new live stage show inspired by the beloved Disney Jr. series. The Magic of Disney Animation (May 26) celebrates the creativity behind Disney’s animated films through interactive exhibits and storytelling. Visitors can explore the animation process while connecting with beloved characters and classic stories that have shaped generations of Disney fans. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon: H2O Glow After Hours (select nights June 2–September 5) are evening water park events with DJ-led entertainment, offering a distinct summer-only experience separate from standard theme park visits. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets opens later this year, replacing the Aerosmith theme while introducing a new generation to the beloved characters. Soarin’ Across America (May 26) is a limited-time celebration of iconic landscapes across the United States. The update ties into America’s 250th anniversary, offering guests a journey over some of the country’s most recognizable landmarks.  

End of Summer Slam (July 24–26) brings youth basketball teams and families from across the country to Orlando for a weekend of competitive games at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The event contributes to Orlando’s strong reputation as a major sports tourism destination. EVEN Hotel and Staybridge Suites Orlando Universal Boulevard opens bookings in July. These two new IHG properties are scheduled to open near the Orange County Convention Center and Universal Orlando Resort. The dual-brand development combines EVEN Hotel’s wellness-focused concept with Staybridge Suites’ extended-stay accommodations, expanding lodging options for both leisure and convention travellers.

The FIFA World Cup comes to Levi’s Stadium (June 13–July 1) to host six matches from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including five group fixtures and one knockout game. This summer San Francisco also hosts the Pokémon World Championships (August 28–30), a hugely popular e-sports event where the Pokémon Company will debut its new fan experience, Pokémon XP. The experience is positioned as the first official Pokémon convention of its kind. 

In the arts, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will unveil a reconceived presentation of the renowned Doris and Donald Fisher Collection (April 19). Featuring nearly 250 works by 35 artists and spanning approximately 60,000 square feet across four floors of the museum, Reimagined: The Fisher Collection at 10 marks the first complete transformation of the Fisher Collection since it opened to the public. The new Big Art Loop transforms San Francisco into a citywide accessible art gallery with up to 100 temporary large-scale sculptures to San Francisco over three years, creating a 34-mile walkable and bikeable art trail throughout the city.  

Other major events include the San Francisco Pride Festival & Parade (June 27–28), which is among the largest LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in the world. Stern Grove Festival (June 14–August 16) is the longest-running free outdoor music festival in the US with artists spanning genres and generations. Yerba Buena Gardens Festival (May–October; summer peak June–August) is a free, city‑backed arts festival that acts as a cultural anchor for locals and visitors alike. Fillmore Jazz Festival (July 4–5) is the West Coast’s largest free jazz festival while In Golden Gate Park, Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival (August 7–9) is the city’s largest ticketed music festival, combining major international headliners with local food, wine, beer and art experiences. Top it off with Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (October 2–4), a free multi‑day music festival drawing crowds to Golden Gate Park for performances spanning bluegrass, folk, Americana and roots music.

Summer heats up in the USVI. St. Thomas Carnival (April 26–May 2) includes a waterfront J’ouvert street dance with bands, parades with elaborate costumes and pageants. A food fair and carnival village offer up local eats along with calypso and reggae nights. Jump Up (May 2) is a series of mini carnivals in St. Croix’s Christiansted four times a year. The streets are closed to vehicles, replaced by dancing and food vendors. The Virgin Islands Boating Expo (VIBE) (May 14–16) is a major luxury yacht showcase in St. Thomas held at the award-winning Yacht Haven Grande Marina. For luxury angles, it’s worth mentioning that yacht purchases are duty-free in USVI! 

St. Croix Pride Month (June 1–30) holds events throughout June while King of the Wing (June 13) invites more than 40 teams to present their spiciest hot wings for a contest in St. Thomas. St. John Celebration (June 27–July 4) commemorates the end of slavery on the islands as well as the founding of the US. Mango Melee (July 12) on St. Croix is perfect for families seeking to learn more and experience everything related to the mighty mango.

Brimfield Outdoor Antiques Show (May 12–17) is a massive outdoor antiques market drawing thousands of dealers and collectors to Brimfield for six days of vintage finds. The Holyoke Shad Derby Festival (mid-May) is a long-running community festival celebrating the annual shad migration with parades, races and local programming along the Connecticut River For music lovers, the Springfield Pride Parade (June 6) features a parade, live entertainment and community events highlighting Western Mass’ inclusive and creative culture. They can also check in for Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival (July 10–11), a free, multi-day music festival drawing thousands for live jazz, roots and world music performances.

Break a sweat at the IRONMAN 70.3 Western Massachusetts (June 7) where athletes from around the world compete across swimming, biking and running courses through Springfield and the Pioneer Valley. Food lovers can pop into Worthy BrewFest (June 27), a summer craft beer festival bringing together regional breweries, live music and food vendors in Springfield. A recurring living history program, Historic Deerfield: “A Stake in the Ground” (July–August), brings early American history to life through immersive demonstrations, storytelling and interactive experiences. And for all the dads out there, the New England Air Museum: World War II Weekend (August 29–30) invites everyone to a large-scale aviation event featuring historic aircraft, reenactments and interactive exhibits.

Summer is one of the best times to visit Barbados, and this year carries added significance as the island celebrates its 60th anniversary of independence. Alongside Crop Over, visitors can experience a range of international sporting events, including the Barbados Invitational Masters Football Classic (May 22–25), BCIC Rally Barbados (May 23–31), the Barbados Ninja Throwdown (August 15–16), and the Barbados International Hockey Festival (August 23–29). The Caribbean Premier League Cricket season (August 15–September 20) further elevates the island’s energy, transforming Kensington Oval into a hub of sport, music, and nightlife, while Gospelfest Barbados (May 24–31) adds a week-long celebration of gospel music and community.

Belize International Music & Food Festival (July 27–28) invites travellers to enjoy performances from globally renowned artists and provides a fusion of musical genres ranging from Punta, Soca, Reggae and Dancehall. It’s paired with a variety of local food to sustain festival goers.  

The Chocolate Festival (May 16–18) offers another taste of Belize. Visitors can explore the cacao-driven culture of the Toledo District as well as the living and ancient Maya culture. Hopkins Mango Street Fest (June 13–14) makes things even sweeter as Belize celebrates mango season. The festival highlights Belize’s love for the delicious fruit that can be found in Hopkins in abundance. There are numerous mango varieties in Belize, and they are eaten and enjoyed throughout the different stages of ripeness.   

Then there’s Belize’s Lobsterfest (July) which unfolds across San Pedro, Caye Caulker and Placencia, marking the start of lobster season with a trio of coastal celebrations that blend food, culture and community. In San Pedro, the festival features island‑wide lobster crawls, conservation‑focused activities and a high‑energy block party finale with live music, dancing and lobster dishes in every form. Caye Caulker brings a laid‑back, multi‑day village celebration rooted in decades of tradition, while Placencia pairs barefoot beach vibes with creative lobster cuisine, all set against a warm, welcoming, small‑town atmosphere. 

For those more interested in finding food than eating it, Grand Caribe’s Deep Sea Classic Fishing Tournament (end July) offers attractive prizes and the participation of local and international avid anglers. Independence Day (September 21) is a day for parades in Belize when colourful floats, lively music and spirited dancing take over. This festive event showcases the nation’s cultural heritage and pride, featuring participants from various businesses, schools and communities across the country.

North American summer is Chile’s winter, a perfect off-peak time to travel. Fiesta de La Tirana (July 16) is one of the largest religious festivals in South America, drawing over 200,000 visitors to the Tarapacá Desert for multi-day celebrations featuring traditional “diablada” dances, elaborate costumes, brass bands and processions honoring the Virgen del Carmen. Summer for the Northern Hemisphere means its Chilean winter in the Andes (June–August), a peak ski season with resorts like Valle Nevado, La Parva and El Colorado offering high-altitude skiing and snowboarding just 60–90 minutes from Santiago.  

The iconic Atacama Desert stargazing season (May–August) offers the clearest skies in the world, ideal for guided astronomy tours, visits to observatories and nighttime experiences in one of the planet’s top stargazing destinations. Patagonia boasts its own version of winter (May–August) when off-peak travel to regions like Torres del Paine offers snow-covered peaks, frozen lakes, fewer crowds and opportunities for wildlife spotting and remote lodge stays in one of South America’s most iconic natural landscapes. Monaco is top of mind as fans await the newest season of White Lotus. In the meantime, Art Monte-Carlo (April 29–May 1) invites them to experience its 10th edition at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. Top Marques Monaco (May 6–10) continues to be the world’s most exclusive motor show. A showcase for supercars, hypercars and cutting-edge innovations, this unique event combines excellence, avant-gardism and the Monegasque art of living, attracting collectors, enthusiasts and international manufacturers. It precedes the Monaco E-Prix (May 16–17) with the return of ABB Formula E. Later, the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Monaco Grand Prix (June 4–7) celebrates the 83rd edition of the world’s most famous motor race. The summer sees the Grimaldi Forum Monaco (July 1–September 6) unveil its exhibition “Monaco and the Automobile, from 1893 to the present day”. Spread over 4,000 m², more than fifty emblematic vehicles retrace 133 years of motoring passion from the first car to be driven in the Principality, to the victorious cars of the Grand Prix and the Monte-Carlo Rally. 

Beyond racing, the Monte-Carlo Television Festival (June 12–16) created in 1961 brings together studios, channels, platforms and international talent around previews, meetings and the prestigious Golden Nymph Competition. The Monaco Yacht Show (September 23–26) at Port Hercule will hold its 35th annual international show dedicated to the world of luxury yachting.

Scotland is more accessible than ever as United launches nonstop Newark/New York–Glasgow flights starting May 8. Running through September 23, this opens up new possibilities for planners seeking to hold events in Scotland. 

The country is hosting a slew of innovation-driven events like the Congress of Business (COB) (May 12), bringing business leaders together to explore how climate ambition can drive resilience and commercial opportunity. The All‑Energy Exhibition & Conference (May 13–14) is the UK’s leading renewables and low‑carbon energy exhibition and conference. DataFest 2026 (May 27–28) is Scotland’s flagship data and AI gathering, while Onshore Wind Conference (September 1–2) will be a newsworthy event for discussions about wind energy and renewables this year. 

New venues for planners include Point A Edinburgh (opening July 15), a new 206‑room Point A property opens in a landmark Category A listed building. There’s TARKA in Edinburgh, expected to open by the summer, which will be a 242‑bed capsule‑hotel concept near St Andrew Square. The UK’s first Prize by Radisson is set to open in Glasgow with a 163-room property. North Rotunda Redevelopment will open in 2026 with a multi-event and leisure venue. The Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh will be reopened in the summer after £22.4m refurbishment and 100 room expansion. Meanwhile, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow is approved for a massive expansion to strengthen the city’s appeal for international business events. 

Scotland’s events add appeal for attendees. The West End Festival (June 1–28) hosts a month-long programme of parade and community events. The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival (June 12–14) puts Scotland’s maritime heritage on display with traditional boats and sailing demonstrations. The Genesis Scottish Open (July 9–12) is one of Europe’s premier professional golf tournaments while the East Neuk Festival (July 1–5) features music and arts along picturesque coastal villages. Tiree Music Festival (July 10–12) is an island-based festival blending live music with stunning coastal scenery, ideal for exclusive, “off-the-beaten-path” incentive trips or VIP delegate experiences. The Hebridean Celtic Festival (July 15–18) is a Celtic music festival while the 2026 Commonwealth Games (July 23–August 2) will see 74 nations competing in 11 sports, driving international visibility, large-scale visitation and citywide cultural and hospitality activation. The Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (July 30–August 1) brings live performances, craft stalls and family-friendly programming. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (August 7–29) offers a high-impact cultural and military experience during August’s peak conference season. 

Edinburgh Festival Fringe (August 7–31) is the world’s largest arts festival with thousands of performances across hundreds of venues, creating a dynamic cultural backdrop that enhances Scotland’s appeal for international meetings, creative congresses and extended delegate stays. Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival (August 9–14) combines concerts, competitions, workshops and street programming, this festival provides an immersive cultural lead-in to the World Pipe Band Championships. The Cowal Highland Gathering (August 27–29) is one of the world’s most famous Highland Games, featuring exciting sports competitions, piping and traditional Scottish culture.

The big event in Vienna this season is the Eurovision Song Contest (May 10–16). Vienna is proud to host one of the world’s most-watched live music events, bringing international performers, media and fans to the city. The Opening Ceremony kicks off on May 10 at Wiener Rathausplatz, followed by semifinal shows on May 12 and May 14, and the Grand Final on May 16. Alongside the televised competition, the event includes fan zones, live screenings and citywide programming, generating significant global attention and positioning Vienna at the center of the European cultural calendar. All summer long, Summer at the Old Danube (May–September) offers one of the city’s most beloved outdoor experiences, transforming this historic waterway into a hub for relaxation and recreation. 

Major events include VieVinum International Wine Festival (May 16–18), Austria’s largest and most prestigious wine event, which brings together wine professionals and enthusiasts from around the world. The highlight is the three-day grand tasting experience, where around 550 exhibitors showcase top Austrian wines. The Vienna Festival (May 15–21) celebrates its 75th anniversary with 35 theatre and music productions, exhibitions and performances, including 13 world premieres and eight in-house productions. The opening ceremony will feature a spectacular open-air concert (free admission) with punk pioneer Patti Smith at Rathausplatz. Film lovers will want to attend Vienna Shorts – International Short Film Festival (May 26–31). It’s Austria’s largest international short film festival and showcases around 300 films across cinemas and cultural venues throughout the city. Donauinselfest (July 3–5) is the largest free open-air music festival in the world, held on Vienna’s Danube Island. The culture continues with ImPulsTanz (July 9–August 9), a massive contemporary dance festival offering performances, workshops and research projects across the city. Vienna Classic Days (August 22–23) is the annual celebration of automotive history, transforming the city into a “rolling museum” of vintage cars and nostalgia. The highlight is the iconic Oldtimer Parade along the historic Ringstrasse, where hundreds of classic vehicles from across the decades cruise through the city center.  

Vienna welcomes everyone to be who they are. LGBTQ+ travellers can experience Vienna Pride & Rainbow Parade (May 29–June 14), Austria’s largest LGBTIQ+ celebration that includes over two weeks of cultural events and performances. The Diversity Ball (September 5) celebrates diversity, accessibility and mutual respect across all communities. The highlight is the glamorous ball where traditional Viennese dance culture meets modern performances in a colourful, barrier-free setting that welcomes guests of all backgrounds.
