Committing to Change
June 5, 2020 | By: Julie Curtin and Karyl Leigh BarnesAs a place marketing agency for communities around the globe, we are heartbroken by the hate, bigotry and fear that exists in the U.S. as the result of systemic racism and social injustice. While this week we are witnessing the complexities of unresolved and historic disparities, we acknowledge that the solution is not simple and is also hundreds of years overdue.
Every person, community and organization will need to determine the long-term role they can play in responding to the tragic death of George Floyd and so many before him, to the prejudices long endured, and to the history of oppression around us. Our DCI team knows that we have a responsibility to look hard at what changes we can make to ensure we are not being complacent with respect to our black colleagues, clients, and the communities we represent.
DCI is committed to taking action internally with the hope that externally we can make a longer-term difference. We are committed to speaking out. We are committed to taking bold and deliberate steps to build more equitable communities.
We are committed to doing better as an agency.
