International Trainee Program
Pave a destination marketing career path with international cultural experience at DCI.
DCI’s international trainee program introduces young professionals to destination marketing in North America. Our full-time trainees join an account team for 12 to 18 months. During this time, trainees help implement destination marketing campaigns and receive daily mentoring.
DCI is always on the look-out for professionals with at least two years of work experience in their home country, either in the tourism industry or in fields like marketing, communications and social media. Experience in research, public relations, digital or traditional marketing or sales is ideal. We appreciate candidates with previous agency experience or those who have worked in tourism.

Trainees create meaningful work and produce real results during a work immersion at DCI.
When young professionals enter our trainee program with industry-related experience, we align this experience to the needs of the destination accounts we serve. As the opportunity arises, we look to have trainees contribute to accounts located in or near their home regions. Trainees leave DCI with a portfolio of material to demonstrate the value of their U.S. exchange experience and a letter of recommendation from their traineeship supervisor for future career opportunities.
Do more than just work at DCI by learning, growing and experiencing.
International trainees will join our staff to engage in professional development sessions to grow, learn and improve their language skills in our English-speaking work environment. Cultural immersion events include introducing trainees to concepts like American Thanksgiving or local Chinese New Year Celebrations, which allow trainees to better understand the U.S. and use their English. Some trainees will even travel throughout the U.S. as part of marketing campaigns. In recent years, our trainees have traveled to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Secure a J-1 visa to travel to the U.S. and begin your adventure with DCI.
All trainee positions require a J-1 in order to qualify for our training program from day one. The J-1 exchange visitor visa is for educational and cultural exchange programs designated by the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. DCI can connect applicants to International Career Development, who facilitates the J-1 application process before the start date if interested.
