About Kelcie Guns
Before joining DCI, Kelcie wrote for New Jersey Family magazine and worked as a writer and editor for Panorama, a Pennsylvania-based news magazine. Today she combines her passion for travel and her communication skills to research, document and pitch story angles for her destination clients.
Kelcie graduated from Schreyer Honors College at Pennsylvania State University with a double major in Journalism and English and a minor in Global and International Studies.
Kelcie’s Passion for Places
With family connections in the Netherlands – a country she loves to visit whenever she can – Kelcie jumped at the chance to study abroad at University College London. During her study abroad stint, she traveled to nine countries and hasn’t stopped exploring since. She loves experiencing new cultures and connecting with people from all over the world.
- Kelcie specializes in unearthing experiences that differentiate a travel destination from its competitors. She’s pitched the 60th anniversary of the Smurfs for Brussels, wildlife engagement programs for Florida’s Palm Beaches and all-American events for St. Louis, resulting in editorial coverage in outlets from Forbes to Family Traveler to Travel + Leisure.

- While working with New Jersey Family magazine, Kelcie researched and wrote stories on events and travel experiences for families throughout the state for both the print magazine and its online platform.
Kelcie is a bookworm and has always loved reading – whether it’s in a library, or on her way to work every morning on the subway. She also played soccer for 13 years, and is planning to get back into her favorite sport and join a soccer league now that she has relocated to New York. She is passionate about photography and loves capturing all of the unique character that the city has to offer.

In her free time, Kelcie loves finding a quiet spot to read a book in Central Park or walking around Brooklyn to find the best new brunch spot with her friends. She can also be found on a quest to pet every dog in New York City until she is able to adopt one of her own someday.

Surprising facts about Kelcie
Last-minute trip extraordinaire: After stumbling upon a cheap flight online, Kelcie once spontaneously booked a six-day trip to Budapest. She packed everything she needed into one tiny backpack and left the next day. She also booked a post-grad trip to London just three days in advance and ended up having the perfect weather – it didn’t rain once!
Animal lover: Kelcie grew up with pets, including a dog and a leopard gecko, instilling a love for animals early in her life. For her 10th birthday, she “adopted” a cheetah through the World Wildlife Fund via donations in lieu of gifts, so she likes to claim that she technically has a pet cheetah as well.
Creative pursuits: Kelcie has always loved art and anything that allows her to embrace creativity, whether that’s walking through art museums, working on a novel, or honing her photography skills. Her favorite museums are the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Portrait Gallery in London, and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
