Kayla joined DCI from a boutique travel PR agency that specialized in Caribbean travel brands, where she managed PR and marketing initiatives for a variety of travel and hospitality accounts. Today she leads DCI’s east coast-based tourism publicity group.

Kayla earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations at SUNY Oswego.

Kayla’s Passion for Places:

Kayla has been exploring the outdoors since she was a young girl growing up in Central New York. Spending most of her summers camping throughout the North East with her family, she developed a love for adventure early on. Today, she tries makes time to explore her natural surroundings on every trip she undertakes.

  • For Travel Iowa, she successfully leveraged the February 2016 presidential candidate caucus to generate two major features — in the Sunday Travel Section and the Wednesday Dining Section — in The New York Times during the week of Jan. 17, 2016.
  • On behalf of Discover The Palm Beaches, Kayla has secured 50-plus editorial meetings in one year as a part of media missions to Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Montreal, New York City, Orlando, south Florida, Tampa and Toronto. This experience contributed to coverage in Atlanta Journal Constitution, Chicago Tribune, CNN, Family Fun, New York Post, Parents, Tampa Bay Times and Toronto Sun.
  • As a part of Visit California’s earned media campaign to promote dispersal from the Golden State’s gateway cities and into rural areas, Kayla has secured coverage in AMNY, AAA Westways, AFAR, Backpacker Magazine, FWx, Good Housekeeping,, NEXOS and Travel + Leisure.

Growing up in the small town of Clinton, NY, Kayla knew from an early age that suburban life was not for her. So after setting her eyes on New York City for the first time, she made up her mind that one day she would be a city girl. Fast-forward 15 years later, Kayla is proud to call New York City home and enjoys spending her free time exploring the many cultures that make up the Big Apple.

On the weekend you’ll find Kayla attempting to body surf on the beaches of Long Island, running in the park with her dog or eating through New York City one borough at a time.

Surprising Facts about Kayla:

How much is that doggie in the window?: Kayla is a huge dog lover. Growing up her family always had at least one pup in the house. From an English Spring Spaniel, a Greyhound and a mixed breed rescued off the streets of Taiwan to multiple Miniature Dachshunds, all shapes and sizes were welcomed in her house. Today, Kayla owns a 100lb German Shepherd named JMo.

DIY Lover: Kayla is obsessed with HGTV programming. She could spend an entire weekend watching home design shows and coming up with DIY projects for her own apartment. Although Kayla doesn’t own a house yet, when she is ready to put down roots she has hundreds of home design ideas ready to go.

Do-Re-Mi: Kayla loves to sing and always dreamed of becoming a Broadway star. Due to various reasons, including a not so great singing voice, that dream did not come true. She still loves to belt out the latest tunes in her apartment and one day hopes to take singing lessons to become the best singer at karaoke.
