About Jillian Downing


Jillian joined DCI from Profiles Inc., an award-winning Baltimore-based PR agency. There she worked with clients in the hospitality, media, nonprofit and retail industries on PR campaigns, including the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore, Baltimore magazine and the National Aquarium. She also oversaw the firm’s internship program.

Jillian earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in English from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Jillian’s Passion for Places

Despite her irrational fear of heights and turbulence, Jillian believes there’s no greater gift than the opportunity to travel, and she never hesitates to hop on a plane if it means the chance to experience a new place. In addition to a fistful of states within the U.S., Jillian has traveled to the Dominican Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Jamaica and Turkey.

Notable Results

  • On behalf of Visit California, Jillian supported a national consumer marketing campaign promoting The Grateful Table, a special Thanksgiving-themed dinner that brought together hundreds of people to celebrate the resilience of California’s wine country community after the October 2017 Wine Country fires. The campaign resulted in coverage on NBC’s “Today” and several Bay Area affiliates, including KTVU-TV and KQED-TV.
  • Through a targeted earned media plan, Jillian assisted in creating awareness of a new online food campaign featuring Celebrity Chef Dale Talde, on behalf of Japan National Tourism Organization, and secured a strategic feature story in Skift.
  • While working with Discover The Palm Beaches to promote its family-friendly holiday attractions, Jillian successfully secured coverage in Country Living magazine and USA Today online, tallying nearly a million impressions.

Jillian is a potato gnocchi enthusiast and proud cat momma. A lover of good stories and storytelling, she considers Barnes and Noble her second home. A Baltimore native and UMD alum, Jillian is a fan of anything purple or seasoned with Old Bay; however, she can’t stand condiments, including ketchup and mustard. Despite her appreciation for different cultures, places and people, her palate isn’t that diverse. Give her a plain hot dog or cheeseburger any day.

When she’s not at work, Jillian can be found exploring the city with friends, binge watching her latest Netflix or HBO obsessions (Narcos, Stranger Things and Insecure are the top three on her list) or reading somewhere in Central Park.

Surprising Facts About Jillian

An Old Soul: Jillian is an old soul at heart, especially when it comes to music. While her peers were rocking out to Britney and NSYNC growing up, Jillian was jamming to Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, the Temptations and Marvin Gaye.

One-Time Oarsman: Once an avid rower, Jillian rowed on her high school’s crew team for three years until she damaged her left knee and had to “retire.”

Triple Play: Jillian celebrated her first day at DCI, her birthday and the Great American Eclipse all on August 21. She’s convinced that day unlocked hidden superpowers (which have yet to be revealed).
