About Emma Perez
Emma has more than 10 years of experience in creating successful events for meeting professionals. It was her passion for travel and desire to discover new places that led her to relocate to Toronto from her native Australia. Before joining DCI, she worked as the business development executive for Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia.
Emma’s alma mater is Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia.
Emma’s Passion for Places
Emma has spent most of her life in two of the world’s most beautiful places: She grew up in the Yarra Valley wine region of Australia, and as a young adult moved to tropical Queensland, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. She has enjoyed vacationing in Mauritius, Fiji, Bali, Japan, New Zealand and Mexico.
Emma has always believed that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. And whether it’s flying over Hawaii in a helicopter with no doors, or climbing a volcano in Indonesia, she’s constantly seeking out new places to prove it.
- Emma successfully executed a sales mission across the United States on behalf of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. Following the mission, she led a FAM trip to Bangkok, enabling four planners and one media representative to experience the destination firsthand. Her efforts resulted in a feature media placement and the procurement of three qualified RFPs.
- On behalf of Rotterdam & The Hague, Emma participated in IMEX America, launching a marketing campaign that engaged more than 1,000 meeting planners, organizing a VIP sales breakfast for 10 meeting planners and conducting three days of booth appointment.
- At Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef, Emma and her team won the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux Innovation X Award, which recognizes innovations that represent a significant transformation to bureau operations, technology and the product pipeline. The team received the award for its work in developing a membership program that raises the level of professionalism at business events in the region and establishes a standard for consistency in response to local challenges.
Emma is always searching for the next grand adventure, whether it’s exploring untrodden paths in a far-off land, or getting lost in the pages of a great novel. She loves to cook and thinks that people who love to eat are the best. A meme enthusiast, Emma will take any opportunity to share a humorous or interesting meme with you. She’s a passionate advocate for gender equality and believes that when there are no ceilings, the sky’s the limit.

In Australia, you can find Emma on the beach or hiking a trail with her dog, Taco. In Toronto, you’ll likely find her discovering the city’s best brunch, lunch and dinner spots or stand-up paddle boarding around the Toronto Islands.

Surprising Facts About Emma
Equestrian Fanatic: Since she was old enough to hold the reins, Emma has ridden horses. She spent every spare minute of her life in Victoria with her horses, whether it was a leisurely trail ride or competing in dressage, showjumping or cross country.
Foot Soldier: When she gets to a new destination, the first thing Emma does is find the best hiking trail. Her biggest accomplishment so far was starting out at 4 a.m. to get to the top of Mount Batur in Bali in time to see the sunrise. Everest base camp and the Pacific Crest are on her bucket list.
Hidden Talent: Emma is a trained spa therapist. She once worked in a luxury spa resort in the Daintree Rainforest on the northeast coast of Queensland, Australia, where she spent her lunch breaks swimming in the crystal waters of the Mossman River.
