The Challenge

Just 30 minutes from the nation’s capital, but virtually unknown, Charles County, Maryland sought to better market itself for economic development and business investment.


The DCI Strategy

Completely rebrand Charles County and develop a marketing program for the Economic Development Department on how to market the county to its target business audience.


The Results

  • Created a new logo and tagline, “Charles County: Close to the Capital, Far from Ordinary,” accompanied by a Brand Guide.
  • Developed a series of collateral materials that applied the new brand, including an e-postcard to stakeholders, business cards, advertisements and PowerPoint templates.
  • Completely redesigned the website with search-engine-optimized content and enhanced user experience and interface.
  • Developed a comprehensive marketing strategy that outlined recommendations for public relations, direct outreach to the C-suite and site selectors, marketing materials and more.
