2019 Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference

Collaborative Strategies for Tourism and Economic Development

There is a general consensus within our industry that tourism is an important source and  driver of local economic development. Yet tourism and economic development marketing  efforts often occur with relatively little interaction and collaboration. As just one example of why the tourism industry can benefit from greater connectivity with economic development efforts, imagine the impact on some local officials’ view of tourism if they  better understood and witnessed the impact that tourism can have on economic development efforts in their communities. DCI, a national marketing firm specializing in both tourism and economic development will present recent research and case studies that will offer ideas and examples of tourism and economic development collaboration. Bonus point: Although our DCI speaker lives in Colorado, she is a Kentucky native and proud NKU graduate, and comes to us with an enthusiastic love and understanding of Kentucky.
