What We’re Reading: AARP 2016 Travel Trends

aarp 2Understanding the motivations and preferences of different age cohorts is critical in the travel and tourism industry. While significant attention has been paid to the millennial generation, understanding baby boomers is equally as important simply due to the sheer size of this market and their economic impact. A recent study conducted by AARP Travel is helping to explore the top trends among the Baby Boomer generation in the United States as they make travel plans for 2016. Given that this cohort spends an estimated $120 billion annually in leisure travel, and that an astounding 99 percent of those older Americans surveyed are planning to take a trip this year, knowing how and where they travel will be important for destinations worldwide.
