Job Description: DCI is currently seeking a Senior Account Executive (SAE) for our Economic Development Division in our New York office. In this role, the SAE’s main goal is to help generate buzz, market and promote the places that we represent as ideal locations for business investment and attraction. The SAE will achieve this goal primarily through media relations and placing stories in top-tier print, national and online media. The SAE will have a prominent writing role, which includes developing press releases, story pitches, byline articles and proposals. S/he will be responsible for cultivating relationships with influential contacts in the press.  The SAE will have the ability to discuss marketing and campaign strategies with clients; monitor media coverage and report back to the client; and manage public perception of the client.  We are looking for a creative, high-achieving public relations professional who is strong in media relations, social/digital media, has excellent writing skills and can build client relationships.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Media relations: independently develop story pitches and place favorable media coverage on behalf of our clients
  • Develop an extensive network of top-tier contacts (media and other applicable industry contacts in the economic development field)
  • Monitor and deliver on work plan and activities for client
  • Play a day-to-day role in client communications
  • Independently lead key client projects
  • Develop and manage client social/digital campaigns as necessary
  • Successfully plan, escort and lead client activities such as press trips, FAM trips, media tours, site selector meetings, investment missions and special events
  • Contribute elements to renewal and expansion proposals for clients with guidance from supervisor or sales lead
  • Assist in the writing of marketing strategies and plans, and developing marketing collateral
  • Manage and/or mentor junior staff, and interns.


  • Minimum of 4 years of PR or marketing experience required; prior agency experience preferred
  • Strong writing capabilities
  • Solid experience in digital marketing and social media preferred
  • Strong media relations and marketing skills across a variety of industries
  • Solid track record of consistently placing articles in top-tier media on behalf of clients
  • Excellent client management and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic, creative thinker who can develop and execute integrated PR and marketing programs
  • Experience in successfully managing junior staff
  • Ability to balance multiple clients, work on tight deadlines and have a drive for hitting goals
  • Working knowledge of Power Point & Excel
  • BA or BS in Economics, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications
