November 5, 2013
Site Selection magazine released its annual ranking of “Top U.S. Business Climates” today, with Georgia taking the first place spot.
Consistently listed as one of the top 10 states in the ranking since 2010, the Peach State jumped up four places since last year’s ranking, bumping North Carolina to No. 2, followed by Texas, Ohio and Tennessee to round out the top 5 states.
Southeast heavy, the top 10 list includes:
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
The magazine’s ranking is based 50 percent on a survey of corporate site selectors and 50 percent on a set of criteria that includes:
- The states’ competitiveness rank as published in Site Selection’s May issue;
- Qualified projects so far in this year and on a per capita basis;
- State tax burdens on new and mature firms as compiled by the Tax Foundation and KPMG Location Matters analysis.
